| the Z was faster from a 40 mph and higher roll in a straightline but, cornering, braking, standing start the 911 is a much better performer. While I have only done 1 track day and 2 AutoX's it is much more capable. At Gingerman I was almost .5 sec. faster in the 911 on street tires (RE01R's) than I was in the Z on race tires (Sport Cups). I still have not really been able to master the car setup or driving the car for that matter so, I am sure it will get even better as I learn he car. The main reason for the performance advantage must be less weight cause it isn't me. I still think highly of the Z and in it's day it was one of the best cars but, that day ended 10 - 12 years ago. I can totally understand the passion for the car and it's well deserved but, the 911 deserves all that and more. The interior is nicer as are most of the creature comforts but, the track performance is what impresses me. On top of that the ride quality and fuel consumption is better so, in answer to your question "WTF was I thinking?" well, I got what I wanted, which is a car better suited to what I use it for.
